Last Day
On their final day of the internship, Abel, Laywah, Mya and Brenda Miranda took a field trip to the Story Corps studio in Atlanta.
Story Corps is an independent nonprofit with offices throughout the country as well as traveling trailers that allow people across America to go in with a friend or family member and tape a conversation. Those conversations are burned onto CDs for individuals to keep as well as preserved at the American Folklife Center at the Library of Congress. NPR broadcasts some of the best stories recorded on Morning Edition.
At the studio, they were able to tour WABE Atlanta and see where TV and radio broadcasts were being done. While our studio at Sagal was only used for pre-recordings, they got to see what live broadcasts are like and experience some of the hectic lives of journalists. We were able to talk to people in the middle of editing interview clips, researching stories and planning for the day ahead.
Check back soon to hear the interviews!
